Essential maintainance tips for your Goalkeeper Gloves
Wash your new gloves before using them for the first time and allow them to dry naturally (consult the washing instructions below) to ensure any preservatives from the manufacturing process are removed from the latex.
It will activate the latex and make sure that maximum grip is achieved for your gloves during its usage.
If you want absolute confidence that they are ready, a second pre-wash is always a good idea.
When your gloves are in use, occasionally dampen the palms of the gloves with water to get the best possible grip and durability from the latex palm.
Since contact latex is not meant to be dry, professional goalkeepers frequently moisten their gloves with water to maintain the latex's grip and responsiveness.
If you leave your latex to dry out too much, it will become brittle which will have an impact on durability and grip which is not what you want.
Follow these 5 simple steps to keep your gloves in top condition
To maximize the lifespan of your goalkeeper gloves, wash them immediately after use in lukewarm water (a maximum of 30C).
Rinse and soak the gloves in the sink. If you've used a glove cleaner, ensure you thoroughly rinse it off, as the residual cleaner can damage the gloves.
Wash the gloves by hand, gently scrubbing the dirt off with your thumbs. Avoid applying excessive pressure, as this can tear the latex. Do not use a brush or scrubber, as these can also damage the gloves.
While not essential, using a glove cleaner can effectively remove dirt and expedite the cleaning process. Follow the instructions on the specific glove cleaner you've chosen.
Allow the gloves to air dry naturally. This may take approximately a day.
After washing your goalkeeper gloves, thoroughly remove excess water by gently pressing them with a towel. Avoid wiping or scrubbing them with a towel, as this can damage the latex.
Allow them to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area. You can hang them on a clothesline or in a bathroom.
Keep them away from direct sunlight or humid environments to preserve the latex quality.
